John Kasich: Tea Party Movement Comprised of Everyday AmericansSeptember 3, 2009 | Tags: #teaparty, common sense, movement, Ohio, Tea Party, Values — John R. Kasich @ 11:13 amThere’s no doubt about it, the Tea Party movement in this country is fundamentally American. When I spoke at the Tea Party in Columbus back on Tax Day, I was struck by the passion and the resolve of those who were there. It was an outpouring of patriots who came to say enough is enough. Since that cold rainy day last spring, there have been many other Tea Parties here in Ohio, and across the country. These gatherings have proven to be more than a fad or mere emotion. This is a real movement with a real message about people’s frustrations by broken promises that leaders on both sides of the aisle would be foolish to ignore. And now, people cannot believe that a handful of politicians in Washington, D.C. are plotting out the most personal details of their lives. In this state, our fellow Ohioans have shown up at these events not because they’re angry, but because they care about the values we all share. They’ve come, not because they’re Republican or Democrat, but because they’re troubled by the direction our country and our state is heading. Finally, they’ve come, not to polarize, but to demonstrate their hope in the great American tradition of leaving a better nation, state and community for the next generation. They have successfully expressed what we all believe. We don’t want people to fail. We want all Ohioans to succeed. But in order to thrive in this state, this movement has rightly pointed out that government should be a last resort not the first resort. To those who will listen, they’ve shown us that there is something un-American about punishing those who work hard, sacrifice and play by the rules. Really what they’re saying is what the colonists in the old days were saying – our government has gotten too big, arrogant and out-of-control. From what I’ve seen, I think it’s clear that Ohioans have spoken. It’s just time for the politicians to listen. John will be speaking at the Cincinnati Tea Party this Saturday, September 5th, 2009. More information on how you can attend the Cincinnati Tea Party can be found here. Comments (14)14 Comments »RSS feed for comments on this post. TrackBack URL Leave a comment |
It has greater implications it seems than just healthcare debate — “Global Governance” at the roots of Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Clinton reaching much an issue and of method and “representation” as these United States have governors meriting place at international tables in keeping with America traditions of equal representation?

John – you are one of the few politicians I respect. I appreciate your leadership during the mid 90s. I’d like to see you again on the national stage, perhaps as the Secretary of Elimination – getting rid of unnecessary and unconstitutional gov’t depts. and programs.

John I too would like to see you on the national stage. Washington has become a joke! A national poll says 47% of Americans would prefer random picks from the phone book to what we currently have serving. How sad is that? Good luck to you

We are looking forward to the Cincinnati Tea Party at Voice of America. Taking back control of our government–one city, one county, one state at a time. Wake up Washington. Healthcare is about the health and well being of our families — not “health insurance” reform, not tax increases, not bigger government and the “public option,” not cutting health benefits for the elderly and our veterans, and not bankrupting of our children’s future.

One of the very few legislators that I would return to public service if I had a chance. How ’bout a run for POTUS there John. Your country needs you.

Have you notice the latest political ad Congressman Space is running. Why he looks like a spokesman for phamaceutical companies.
He has upset a lot of his constituent in Knox County by refusing to hold a town hall meeting.
Him and Sherrod flew over to Afganistan to avoid confronting the health issue.

My husband and I went to the Tea Party Express in Canton, OH on Wednesday. Very
impressive. Well organized. We should have had
one here in Columbus/Westerville everything was right to the point. People with the same
point of view trying to get this Country back
in shape!

Spot on John, except we BOTH need to listen. When egos and ulterior motives are pushed to the side, the simple truth and often the best solutions to problems can be found.
As a Tea Party organizer who has met one on one with several State candidates to open that line of communication, the result is usually a call from other party members after, trying to “Put me back in my place”. That’s not listening, that is patronizing and most people know the difference.
In this election the olds rules no longer apply, thanks in part to the Tea Party movement. Please honestly listen, and we will do the same. Once we are all just people bound by beliefs and not ideology we can make Ohio better, together.

From Plain Dealer article Jan 28, 2010 on Ohio 3C Rail – Nowhere in your article does it state why we need rail service linking Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. What are the projected number of users annually? $400 million to create how many jobs? 100? Maybe $4 million per job? Where is the demand. I know of no one person screaming for rail service to Columbus or Cincinnati. College students are going to pay $52 each round trip to get home rather than split $20 worth of gas with 2 or 3 other friends car pooling? What do you do when you get there? Wait at a bus stop? Have to rent a car? Pay for an overpriced smelly cab?
We will have trains running 1/4 full and will be reading how much the State of Ohio will need to subsidize another government white elephant project or have to curtail service. Look at RTA or Amtrak ? Enough said?
The problem with stimulus money is that we are spending money for the sake of spending money. No thought behind what they are doing! This will not create the 100’s of thousands of jobs Ohio needs right now!!!!
Strickland can’t see or hear clearly with his head up Obama’s rear end!! The State of Ohio needs to do some studies before Strickland dances for joy because the Obama Administration has vomited another $400 million on Ohio that the Federal government will need to borrow from China, all for a feel good project that will cost every Ohio taxpayer in the long run!
This is $400 million Obama hopes will buy some Strickland desperation votes!!
